Management of shorebirds and other waterbirds

Many waterbirds around the world, in particular shorebirds, are under threat. Loss of habitat is the primary cause, but hunting, pollution and disturbance also impact on waterbirds. In Australia, the numbers of many species are declining.

Wetland managers need a holistic integrated approach to the conservation and management of waterbirds and their habitats.
