Long description

Intertidal area inside of a channel where consolidation, energy, structural macrobiota and texture are unknown. Tidal extent may be poorly differentiated. See ecosystem type (119) and variant of ecosystem type (2) within channel.

Special values

May provide movement corridors for birds and estuarine biota.

High tidal channels that are only intermittently connected tidally may provide important nursery habitat for fish e.g. barramundi.

A mixture of estuarine transitional ecosystems that may irregularly or regularly experience freshwater flows. Relevant attributes are Freshwater source and volume.
