Modifications

The wetland (aquatic ecosystem) type—conceptual models layer used by WetlandSummary is based on the source layers below, with the following modifications:

  • Based on the wetland areas layer
  • Name and URL are looked up from a separate file based on value of the OTH_DHA_H (Dominant Wetland Habitat) field
  • Excluded wetlands where the OTH_DHA_H field is empty
  • Excluded wetlands where no conceptual model has been created for the habitat type
  • Accumulated wetlands with habitat type codes LA14,LA15,LA16a,LA16b,LA17 additionally into the arid and semi-arid permanent lake conceptual model

Report
Data quality report, measure description
All polygons visually checked at 1:100,000 scale and by topological consistency checks. Inconsistencies between the water body classification and wetland regional ecosystem classification were highlighted, manually checked and reconciled.

Data Lineage
Lineage statement, a general explanation
This dataset is derived from the Queensland Herbarium's: Biodiversity of Pre-Clearing and Remnant Regional Ecosystems, and Wetland Waterbodies.

Queensland Wetland Data Version 6.0 – Wetland Areas (2019), is an updated version of data previously released as version 1.0 (GBR catchments), version 1.1 (Wide Bay Burnett catchments), version 1.2 (Great Barrier Reef, northern Cape York Peninsula and Queensland Murray Darling Basin), version 1.3 (Queensland) and version 2.0 to 5.0 (Queensland). Versions up to and including version 1.3 depicted extent of wetlands based on rectified 2001 Landsat ETM+ imagery, version 2.0 depicted extent of wetlands based on rectified 2005 Landsat ETM+ imagery . Version 3.0 depicted extent of wetlands in 2001, 2005 and 2009 based on rectified 2001/2005/2009 Landsat ETM+ imagery.  Version 4.0 depicts the extent of wetlands in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013 based on rectified 2001/2005/2009/2013 Landsat ETM+ imagery. Version 5.0 depicts the extent of wetlands in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017 based on rectified 2001/2005/2009/2013/2017 Landsat ETM+ imagery. Version 6.0 depicts the extent of wetlands in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2019 based on rectified 2001/2005/2009/2013/2017/2019 Landsat ETM+ imagery. This data is produced by combining the wetland regional ecosystem areas with wetland waterbody data. Where overlap occurred across wetland waterbodies and wetland regional ecosystem polygons, a decision tree is used to determine which polygon takes priority.

The extent of wetlands depicted is based on rectified 2019 Landsat ETM+ imagery (supplied by SLATS, Department of Environment and Science).

Note that some small offshore terrestrial islands may not be delineated due to the mapping extents and scale of source data and the imagery available to delineate such features.

Full details on the methodology can be found: https://wetlandinfo.des.qld.gov.au/wetlands/facts-maps/wetland-background/
Report
Data quality report, measure description
This dataset is GDA2020 compatible. The source data, and therefore the captured features are georeferenced as GDA94 (horizontal only).  The horizontal accuracy of the geo-referencing and/or data collection method for this example is greater than the datum offset between GDA94 and GDA2020 (1.8 meters).  The resulting dataset has been nominated as a low-accuracy GDA2020 dataset. As this data has not directly measured in GDA2020, nor transformed to GDA2020 the resulting data is 'GDA2020 Compatible', not Compliant.
