Summary

Marine debris clean-up (small items) from the Tandora property. Debris has accumulated within the intertidal/mangrove area as a result of the January 2013 flood event and tidal surge. The debris will be manually removed and taken to the Maryborough refuse station.

Benefits

Improved water mouse (Xeromys myoides) habitat, potential habitat for the Illidge's ant-blue butterfly (Acrodipsas illidgei). Improved saltmarsh community. The project area adjoins the Great Sandy Strait Ramsar site (wetland of international significance) and habitat area for the migratory / resident shorebirds and critical habitat for inshore dolphin species Sousa sahulensis (K.Wortel pers. comms 2013). The project will improve 7 kilometres of coastline and reduce the potential for this rubbish to be moved into the Ramsar site.
