SummaryObjective
Water quality monitoring occurred between 2010-12 due to concerns about reduced water quality from potential upper catchment spillage and nutrient loads. Data was collected before management was undertaken. Periodic fish kills have occurred. Works undertaken Plant material (red azolla, hornwort and snowflake lilies) harvesting took place throughout the three lagoons. Several substance spills were cleaned up and/or contained. Water quality was monitored and a Solar-Bee Aerator installed. BenefitsThis project aims to improve water quality in the Pialba Catchment.
LessonAvailable data was collected before works were undertaken. A program of education was implemented to raise awareness among FCRC staff, local residents and high school students on the value of water quality testing.
