Summary

This project aims to improve the conservation of the olive ridley, hawksbill and flatback turtles that lay on Pennefather Beach (between Weipa and Mapoon) on the far North West of Queensland. Activities include: fencing of dunes to allow rehabilitation, marine debris and ghost net removal, marking of nests and protection from human predation. The project also aims to improve local youth understanding of the importance of turtle conservation and protection.
